Days when I need to de-compress…

Recess

As a virtual world developer, there are times when I need (demand!) to decompress. To stop thinking about linking prims, textures, sim performance and the ever pressing what the hell will work. Hell, any job a person has, one will find that they need time to get away from it. Time to kick back and relax – smell the roses – chill – and all of those other wonderful descriptions.

For some there is the luxury of weekends. Weekends?!? What are those?!?

For others there are vacations, a most excellent of concepts. I DIG vacations. Love them. Desire them. My last vacation was in May 1994.

So for me, I occasionally take time out for what I once describe (stolen from Dilbert) as in-cubicle sabbaticals. Days that you are there, but not really there. Days you catch up on your reading. Days that you figure out a new piece of software that promises to make your life easier . Days that you kinda of check-out.

Now, since I work out of my house, I call these type of days recess. I loved recess! And since I am not one to brag (oh no never), I was pretty damn good at recess.

So here is to recess – and here is today, Thursday, March 6, 2008 – Recess Day!
