Disclaimer – As always, I am the developer for Cisco in Second Life. The opinions expressed here are ALL MINE and are not paid for by Cisco – I am very expensive!
Attended one of Cisco’s TechChats today in Second Life on Education 2.0 given by John Connell, Education Strategist and Business Development Manager at Cisco. Listed below are some of John’s credentials.
Attendees of the event were from around the world; UK, France, Spain, Australia, Bulgaria and the U.S. It was interesting to note that they all seem to have the same issues – top down management, lack of connectivity and control issues.
What I took away (as a non-Educator) is the following
- Education is still bound by “traditional” thought of as an individual pursuit versus collaboration
- Web 2.0 is still considered play
- The passion of the attendees – mainly front line teachers – is amazing! Salute teachers!
There was so much more in this excellent talk yet any attempt by me to express them would do a great deservice to John. If interested, check out John Connell’s blog: http://www.johnconnell.co.uk/blog
