How the hell is Saul Tigh a Cylon?

Making Tigh a cylon poses a couple of interesting questions that I’m rather interested in seeing how the writers explain it.

At the end of season 3, I was stunned when it was announced that he was a cylon. I could buy the other three being a cylon. Chief Tyrol as a cylon did not amaze me (the hints about this have been going on for some time and it was “confirmed” at the temple in season 3), Sam Anders, being a star athlete, was a natural and Tory Foster was another “natural” fitting into the “hot” cylon female models — how come they ladies are all hot??? — and the guys not so???? (like I care about the dudes – lol)

But back to Tigh!

The cylons technology for making skin jobs (humanoid cylon models) is supposedly new. It was suppose to be within the 40 years from the first war and the second. Tigh fought in the original Cylon wars before the cylons had such technology. The only way he is a cylon is that he was switched with the original Saul Tigh.

We already know that the other five are somehow fundamentally different from the other cylon skin jobs. Hints have even been given that they perhaps have an agenda of their own. Is it also possible that these five pre-exist the other skin jobs by decades? Perhaps they existed in secret during the original Cylon wars? Though I doubt this due to Razor where we “”see” Adama see the beginnings of the cylon “skin” experiments.

In the case of a cylon replacing the original Tigh at some point that would mean the Cylon would have already had to look and act exactly like him. Maybe the “alcoholism” was a way to hide any flaws in his change?!?

If you believe that the five pre-existing all the way back to the original Cylon wars, that would mean Tigh would have to age like a normal human. From what we understand, cylons don’t do that.

I guess the real point of this post is to express that even though I have a couple of working theories about how on earth Tigh could be a cylon… I really don’t know. And that is why I love to watch this show!
