I usually avoid politics in this blog, not because I do not care, but politics and politicians make me puke. To be a successful politician one must avoid truth for the vote, to pander to the masses; to say and do about most anything just to be elected.
So last night (April 15), as I was catching up on the recent battle between Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton, I saw the recent photos of Senator Hillary Clinton drinking whiskey which made me laugh. Then I got angry. At that moment in time, I realized that I am officially anti-Clintons – yes both Hillary and Bill.
Damn, I thought Bill was fun as the president. My only beef with him was that he SHOULD have admitted that he had an affair right away. And his choices in women were not the best. I think he realized that he could get more from insecure women, but that speculation can wait for another blog posting.
But this recent run of Hillary for president just reminded me that politicians will say or do anything to get elected. But that photo of Hillary “hanging with regular folks” and drinking whiskey was the straw that would not stir my drink. Pun intended!

I am sorry, but as a whiskey drinker, Hillary is NOT a person that drinks whiskey. Look at the guy behind her. Now that is a whiskey drinker!
Then something happened.
As I viewed the photo, I got mad. It was strange how mad I got. Not your usual kinda mad or the occasional I am pissed mad but more one of those very rare “I am MAD AS HELL” moments.
I am TIRED of the Clintons shading the truth. I am very tired of them attacking Barak Obama. I am upset over the the 3:00 am commercial. I was very upset over the South Carolina racism strategy. I got pissed about Hillary stretching the truth about her experience. And I got furious with their attacks that some how Barak Obama has had life easier because HE IS A BLACK MAN. Every black man I know has had been pulled over for DWB – Driving While Black. AND I LIVE IN SANTA CRUZ, CALIFORNIA.
Hillary and Bill (is he really helping?) will do or say anything to get elected. Do they not realize the harm they are doing? Do they not know what they are doing to the Democratic Party? To recap the past few days.
- April 12 – Hillary Clinton touted her experience with guns and hunting to a crowd in Indiana.
- April 12 – Clinton was at Bronko’s Restaurant having a beer when the bartender asked, “You want a shot with that Hillary?” After some deliberation, Clinton settled on a shot of Crown Royal, a Canadian whiskey. (Source – CNN)
- April 13 – As the rumination continues over Barack Obama ’s comments about economically-depressed small town voters, statements made by Bill Clinton on the same topic — uttered while he was running for president in 1991 — have now surfaced. “The reason (George H. W. Bush’s tactic) works so well now is that you have all these economically insecure white people who are scared to death,” Clinton was quoted saying by the Los Angeles Times in September 1991 (Source – Huffington Post)
- April 14 – Clinton tried paint Obama as “elitist” in a speech to the Alliance For American Manufacturing forum in Pittsburgh
The following encapsulated my thinking last night (source – Huffington Report)
They? They? It’s not the far right wing relentlessly using these comments for political gain, Senator. It’s your candidate, Hillary Clinton, adopting the frames, lies, stereotypes and destructive clichés long embraced by the likes of Lee Atwater and Karl Rove. She has clearly decided that the road to victory runs through scorched earth.
The question is, if she succeeds, what kind of Party will she be left to lead? She’s burning down the village to save it — or to prove that she would make the best fire chief. But the village won’t be saved; only one house will be left standing. A house with room for just two occupants. Hill and Bill.
Clinton’s cynical distortion of Obama’s remarks is in keeping with her campaign’s modus operandi.
Side Note -
It Takes a Village: And Other Lessons Children Teach Us is a book by then-First Lady of the United States Hillary Rodham Clinton, in which she presents her vision for the children of America. She focuses on the impact individuals and groups outside the family have, for better or worse, on a child’s well-being, and advocates for a society which meets all of a child’s needs.
