Gibson Guitar has just opened a sim in Second Life® that I visited tonight. Upon arrivial, one receives a notecard that reads:

Welcome to Gibson Island, Gibson Guitar Corp’s official world on Second Life. Its a fun place for musicians and music fans, with lots to see and do, free concernts by SL and even RL musicians who endorse Gibson’s family of products, and more! We’re glad you’re here.

As seen by the picture there is a lot going on here and done with a nice sense of humor. I really enjoyed the media area which featured some old time blues artist videos. Overall I thought it was a nicely done sim but my only “alarm” was all of the free guitars that were being given away. Corporations should be very careful what they give away. You never want to wipe out an economy in SL with the freebies and with this very cool offering, Gibson will basically wipe out anyone selling guitars in SL.

OK - I will admit I got all of the free guitars and a couple of shirts!  Now if I could only play them…..
