So when I get my grubby and stumpy hands on a new sim, the first thing I do is set the land to group - or make sure it is deeded to the right group. For this sim, the group is Meta Magic Studio - lol.
Once that is set, i make sure only group members can build there by opening the “About Land” window, selecting the “Options” tab, then checking off the “All Residents” box for Create Objects. I will also verify that the “Safe (no damage) box is active. While I am in”Options” tab, I will set-up snapshot for the land and a landing spot.
My next step is also in the “About Land” window. I go “Objects” tab and select return of 1 minute. Some people like to have 10 minutes or so, but I have learned that if I have forgotten to get the correct group tab active, then after 10 minutes way to much stuff comes back. Discipline in building is important. Always check to see which group you have active before building.
Then I select the “Media” and put KONA Radio stream on for my listening pleasure. FYI - the stream is http://75.126.100.42:8030.
Then I close the “About Land” window and open “Region / Estate” window. The first tab is “Region” where for regular SL sims I up the avatar count to 70, but with the new open space sims, I put that number at 20. I also verify that the “Restrict Pushing” box is active. For corporate clients, I select “PG” rating for the sims. This way, when the stripper avatars show up for an event, you can ask them to leave - or have a valid reason to eject.
Next I go to my favorite tab, “Ground Textures” and I put down my own textures. Now for the Meta Magic Studio sim you will see that we went with sand and then purple logo backgrounds. Sweet eh?!? Play with the texture levels to get different looks. Remember, the texures on the ground will be the equivalent to a 12 m x 12 m square.
As you can see from the pictures, we got a good jump on the build today. Basically the sim is intended as a entrance to the Meta Magic Studio and is a balance against the more realistic looking Los Arboles. The idea is to show a more “fantasy” style yet with a business sensibility. There is lots of kinetic motion, use of particles and other little tricks including a trampoline step pad.
I will be updating more as we go.
