Long time readers of this blog know I love beach volleyball. Love IT! At onetime I thought I could make a career at it, then reality set in. I sucked.
I looked good. I hit good and hard. BAMM! I could serve. Take off your hands I could! lol And at one time. the ladies found me attractive. — this is truth! no really…
As the years went by, reality set in. Neither was I good, nor as good looking as I thought.
Meanwhile
Phile Dalhausser and Todd Rogers beat Brazil’s Fabio and Marcio (one names? why?) 23-21, 17-21, 15-4, winning their Olympic debuts in classic beach volleyball weather a day after Kerri Walsh and Misty May-Treanor weathered a driving rainstorm to win their second straight gold.
America has won two beach volleyball golds. I drank to them tonight!
Meanwhile:
for the Olympic gold medal after defeating Russia in five sets.
With the 25-22, 25-21, 25-27, 22-25 15-13 victory Friday, the U.S. men remain undefeated in Beijing.
They will face the winner of the late semifinal between Brazil and Italy in the title match Sunday. Russia will face the loser in the bronze medal match.
The U.S. won Olympic gold medals in 1984 and 1988, before winning the bronze in 1994. But the closest they’ve gotten since then was a fourth-place finish at the 2004 Athens games.
So tomorrow – root for the boys of summer — please!
