Thoughts on Oscar

clown2

The Oscars are not something I get all wrapped up in, nor do I pretend to know what is going on with them.  My better half calls it part of our thing which I guess means we do it together.  Yet it is not like we plan a big evening or get dressed up.  In actuality, neither of us really cares about the outcome nor do we take the time to know anything about the nominees by the mere fact that we have not seen most of the movies.

But we did watch last night.  Kinda.  My better half spent the entire show answering work emails while I bopped around the kitchen and into the office for about 1/2 of the show.

So my opinion of the show should be taken with a grain of salt but that does not mean I am going to stop giving them.  Overall I thought the show was fine.  Hugh Jackman can actually sing and dance.  For all the critics out there, try to come up with a better format.  It should be noted that the show ended five minutes early this year which was a nice change.

I was happy for Heath and Sean, basically cause they seem like real people (well at least Sean is now).  I enjoyed Sean’s speech and it is nice to see some one stand up and reaffirm Hollywood’s leftness.  I know a lot of people were for Mickey Rourke but since I did not see his movie, I was happy with Sean.  As for Heath, he was freaking brilliant as the Joker.= and was the only award that I held a strong opinion in.

Watch Sean Penn’s acceptance speech from the Oscars:

As for the ladies, I am happy for the winners Ms. Winslet and Ms. Cruz, though I have to admit I have not seen the movies they were in.  I did like the five elders type of presentation for each of the nominees.  Made the moment more like a peer review which in essence the Oscars  awards are.
