Seabright Beach, Santa Cruz

Seabright Beach in Santa Cruz is my beach.  Yes it is!  Ok, so I do not own it but it is mine!

Ever since I first moved to Santa Cruz, I have spent most of my beach time on this beach.  When my better half and I were looking for a house in early 1994, we wanted to live as close as possible to this beach.   We were fortunate to find a small house about 1/4 mile from Seabright Beach that was within our price range.

Seabright Beach (at the foot of Seabright Avenue) is part of ‘Twin Lakes State Beach.  It is a popular locals beach (not easily found by tourists), located between the San Lorenzo River mouth (near SC Boardwalk) and the entrance to the Santa Cruz Harbor.  It is a long sandy beach (3/4 mile), good for body surfing, swimming and skim boarding. Volleyball, evening bonfires and drum circles are favorite locals pastimes.  Dogs are permitted on leash.

Castle Beach

Seabright Beach is sometimes called “Castle Beach” by local old timers. The Scholl-Mar Castle occupied what is now the main entrance area to the beach from 1928-1967.

So check it out when you are ever in Santa Cruz.  Chances are that you will see me and Mr. Muggins strolling around.
