I actually was watching the David Letterman show when he told the joke about Sarah Palin’s daughter getting “knocked up by Alex Rodriguez”. When he said it, I thought it was in reference to 18 year old unwed mother “abstinence-preaching / do as I say, not as I did” Bristol Palin. It was not that funny of a joke, and I knew that it was not one of those that one should repeat in polite society.
Of course the next day, along came the politically correct uproar which was stoked by the Palin’s themselves, both Sarah and Mr. First Dude, and the rest of the right wing “family first” (do as I say, not as I do) crowd. It was a win-win both for Palin and for Letterman. And of course there was going to be a huge demonstration against David Letterman, and much like the Teabaggers, a huge crowd of fifteen people showed up.
— ah for future reference, a “huge” crowd is more than 10 thousand in my book – please reference recent protest in Iran. —- Source Link
Then Olive Garden restaurant announced it is canceling all of its scheduled ads on Letterman’s “Late Show” for the rest of the year.
In an e-mail to a Letterman critic obtained by POLITICO, a spokeswoman for the Italian restaurant chain wrote that “there will be no more Olive Garden ads scheduled for ‘The Late Show’ with David Letterman in this year’s broadcast schedule,” citing the talk show host’s “inappropriate comments.”

So I am announcing my boycott of Olive Garden. If the type of customers they want are just the right wing nuts, then you can count me out. I will be avoiding all Olive Gardens from now until they issue a written apology to David Letterman. Besides, your food is not really that good.
Update – I had already twitted my boycott with Olive Garden, and while witting this blog entry, I received two anti-boycott responses, one example here:
eChaplain@BananaSteinBash If the joke was about your daughter I think you would have a different opinion. Some folks have no decency about them.
Then I see The Olive Garden put out a new press release stating:
“Information reported today by Andy Barr of Politico regarding Olive Garden’s advertising on the Late Show with David Letterman was erroneous. No authorized spokesperson for the company confirmed the information in his report,” said Olive Garden spokesman Rich Jeffers in an email to The Vote.
“The Olive Garden media schedule is planned months in advance. The schedule for the Late Show with David Letterman was completed earlier this month. We take all guest concerns seriously. And, as always, we will factor those concerns in as we plan our advertising schedule in the future,” he continued.
Jeffers has not yet responded to an email asking if Olive Garden advertisements will continue on the David Letterman show.

Update #2 – 3;20 pm
I love twitter
eChaplain@BananaSteinBash And I consider a dirty old man with bad joke writers a menace to society. Letterman needs to be gone period.
