A quick recap on jury duty

As briefly mentioned back in July, I spent over two weeks on Jury Duty in Santa Cruz County Superior Court.  Since I did not post anything about the case, many people were not aware of what was happening.  Basically it was a nasty trial involving a Step Dad being charged in regards to having sex with his underage daughter.

I am not going to give lots of details due to the nature of the crime, nor do I want to dwell on it any longer.   I can say I did honestly think the man was innocent and made the prosecution really work through the details.   In the end, the defendant was convicted on 30 of 32 counts.  We found him not guilty on one and were hung on another.  It was a long two plus weeks.

A thanks to all on the jury.  Despite dealing with a tremendously difficult case both in terms of the law, buts also emotionally, I was proud of how we handled the difficult discussions and really took the time to go through each count.   As stated as we left, if I was ever in need of a jury, I would hope these people would be on it.

Also a shout out to our bailiff!  She took her responsibility with us seriously and professionally, yet kept it human.   Also a shout out to cookies.
