Things I Think as of Today

Time for another Things I Think as of Today, and as always they are subject to change.

Random

  • Doesn’t matter how talented Roman Polanski is, he had sex with a drugged up 13 year old.
    • One thing I learned on my Jury Duty, under 16 is REAL bad in California.

Sports

  • The 49ers have been a very pleasant surprise this so far this season but I do not see them going very far in the playoffs.  The fact that I am even thinking that they will make the playoffs is huge.
    • Coach Singletary could even motivate me.
    • Patrick Willis is amazing.
  • Thank god I am not a Oakland Raiders fan.  Until Al Davis moves along, this organization is in deep trouble.
  • Overall I was happy with the San Francisco Giants season mainly in part that I hoped that they would be a .500 team.  But I do expect them to sign some more offense in the off season.
  • It is going to be another long season for the Warriors with little chance of making the playoffs.  New ownership please!
  • I am not on the Sharks bandwagon until they get to the Stanley Cup.  Nope, not going to get sucked down that path again (Go Sharks!)

Politics

  • I was in the local post office a few weeks ago and I heard an old lady tell her friend that she wanted the government to stay away from her medicare.  The irony of the statement was not lost on the 20 plus other citizens standing in a quasi-government organization.
  • I wonder what a rational conversation or debate would look like in the country?
    • When did yelling at people become acceptable behavior?
    • If a Democrat had yelled “Liar” at President Bush, treason charges would have been brought against the person.
  • Thank god for Jon Stewart.
  • The next family values politician to get caught cheating is just around the corner.
  • If you were against the Chicago getting the Olympics solely because of President Obama, you have some serious issues.

Work

  • Times are tough at Meta Magic Studio.  I am giving myself until mid November before I seriously look at shutting it all down.  Depressing.
    • I have been looking at Santa Cruz Job recently.  Blah.
  • Virtual worlds need more business investments.  Come on Cisco and IBM, and all of you other players, open up the purse string and let me do the heavy lifting.  We have plenty of ideas on how to improve the experience, just not the capital.
  • I have taught myself the basics of using Joomla for websites.  Though I do need to find a resource for more advance usage.

Games

  • Bananadoo (Gnome Warrior) is working his way through Achievements.  Currently almost 4,000 points with a number of more to come this year.  Not sure how much I will be playing until the next World of Warcraft expansion scheduled for next December.
    • One nice thing about being a high level 80 is that I am able to go through all of the classic raids by myself and finally complete them.
    • I have been slowly working on leveling a couple other toons Bananadeath (Death Knight) and Bananadwarf (Dwarf Hunter).
  • I have completely given up on Age of Conan and Spore.
  • I played Evony for four weeks and found what Bruce on Games said about the game to be 100% accurate.  Sorry to see his legal troubles for him.

Technology

  • I freakin LOVE my iPhone.  It has changed how I stay in contact with people, both professionally and personally.
    • Apps I use the most include ESPN ScoreCenter, Facebook and a few games.
    • The $30 a month cost to access data is robbery.
  • I need a new laptop but am holding off to see what happens with my business.
  • Blog fad happens every three months for me.  But I find that I still use Twitter and Facebook daily.  I love the Twit Pic app on my iPhone.
  • The only shows I watch live on regular television are sports and The Big Bang Theory.
  • On Hulu on I watch Sunny in Philadelphia, Rescue Me, Sons of Anarchy and a few others.
  • In the near future, there will be no middle man…  think about it.

Social Media

  • I am constantly amazed by the number of so-called Social Media experts that can not even work their Facebook pages.
  • If you do not understand the power of Twitter, then you probably do not get text messaging either.  Am I right?
