House Remodel – Post #9

It has been almost 8 days since I last posted on the House Remodel so naturally lots of progress was made while my better half and I were gone on vacation.  So far the remodel is on schedule with the first city inspection scheduled for this week.

Vaulted Ceiling and Sky Light

The new vaulted ceiling has been framed in and sky light has been installed.  When I first walked into the room, I immediately noticed the increase in light in the room.  The amount of new supports is impressive.

Bay Window and Sliding Door

A new sliding door was installed.  While the old one was doubled paned, it never had the “open” look due to a weird fake pane effect.  The new slider is a vast improvement in opening up the room.  It should be noted that we needed to lower the new slider to match the new lower floor.

Also installed was the new bay window which turned out exactly as I had hoped.  I like that it does not extend beyond the roof line while giving a larger interior area that can be used.  The window is positioned where the sink will be installed.

Bathroom and Laundry Area

The 1/2 bath area does not change much except we are improving the lighting and have installed a TV cable so that no one will miss the big plays when the need a bathroom break.  Since we already had the low-flow toilet, it will be reinstalled.  We will be getting a new bath sink set-up.
