Last night Meta Magic Studio came to a tough decision, we could no longer keep supporting our four simulators in Second Life due to a lack of revenue. While we still believe in Second Life and the opportunities it presents, we can not just keep shelling out money to Linden Lab without clients. And currently all of our clients are in holding patterns.
The company itself is in a temporary holding pattern, in a sense we will be still working on some projects especially with OpenSims. We also will be watching to see if Second Life can recapture some of the magic once the economy comes back. I am a strong supporter of their Enterprise Solution for company’s that require virtual world solutions and security.
On a personal level, this was a tough decision due to my embrace of the world since April of 2006. But taking the emotion out of it, basically all of our clients have stopped their efforts in Second Life due to various reasons. So today I began the break down of the two public sims, those being Los Arboles (established December 2006) and Meta Magic Studio (established August 2008). Both private sims will be shut down within the week once we get all the tools back into our inventory.
I will remain in Second Life, but not as active as I have been. I will be taking a few days off just to recharge the batteries then start looking for work with the hope of finding employment by the start of the New Year. Anyone got a job?
Update: On a happy note, it looks like Los Arboles will remain an active sim with Crap Mariner taking over.
