Since I have not built out the new vegetable beds that are part of the new backyard landscaping, I have planted some tomatoes, strawberry and jalapeno plants in a few pots.
The plants were doing fine, then I noticed that I was getting clusters of aphids sucking the life out of my plants. Now I did not want to just spray the pests with a bunch of chemicals so I ventured down to the plant shop and started asking questions. Since I live in Santa Cruz, an organic solution was immediately suggested.
Ladybugs.
I immediately wanted to purchases mass quantities of them but I was informed that I did not need many of them. It turn out that only 10 to 20 ladybugs per 100 square feet are needed.
I will keep ya posted….
