Mitch Kapor posted a tweet 35 minutes ago (11:30 am PDT) stating

I’ll be working closely with founder Philip Rosedale as he returns to be CEO of Linden Lab

I guess the major investors are not pleased with the direction of Second Life.  I am not surprised with the failure of Viewer 2.0 to attract new users and the inability to entice the Enterprise market.
